more studio news to follow soon. I am doing portland area spring sales, and sending work to new stores shortly. I will start sending updates as soon as the work is out of the kiln and off to the stores and sales.

happy first day of spring!

vitrifiedstudio has been busy! here is an image of a big jar that I made recently. This jar quickly sold off of my etsy site, but I hope to be soon adding more. These big jars are really challenging to make with a low survival rate, but they are worth it when they make it out of the kiln.

Exciting news of store locations where you can find vitrifiedstudio in Portland and even a few shops outside of the city is coming soon. I am applying for some spring and summer fairs. This is going to be a big year for vitrifiedstudio!

i am excited to announce that antler gallery on alberta street will be carrying cups and bottles from vitrifiedstudio. antler gallery is opening tomorrow evening with last thursday event on alberta street, portland oregon. this will be the first gallery selling vitrifiedstudio, and first portland retail location (which happens to be just blocks from my home studio).  antler gallery shares space with the alberta main street development. they will be open on weekends and for last thursday events.

here is how antler gallery describes themselves:

antler is a tiny gallery in portland, oregon
_
In nature an antler is the perfect blend of form and function, used simultaneously for display and task. As a reflection of this we showcase both the highest caliber contemporary art and innovative handmade craft from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. This space is our way of preserving the creative nature of the Alberta Arts District.
photos of some of the pieces I brought up the street to the gallery, I will update the blog with more photos of the actual gallery:

vitrifiedstudio is really in a real store now! check out the evidence here and here at crown nine in oakland CA.

i am hoping that the bottles will sell well and i can send some other shapes and clays down there soon. if you are in the oakland area, please go take a look and tell me what you think. i wish i could fly down there this weekend to see for myself.

one of my new years resolutions was to get into a store, so that is quickly achieved. now i am hoping to get into a store in each big city on the west coast. if you know of a great store that is design oriented and well curated please let me know. i am going to start sending samples out, and i would love suggestions.

i have also been having fun working on custom shapes with some great shoppers on etsy. soon i hope to post photos of the extra large bottles and wide jars, that i have been working on, and next week i would like to start on a bottle that pours. check out my etsy store if you haven’t already, i added lots of new work the last few weeks.

I am packing up a set of bottles to send to my first store today. These will be available shortly at Crown Nine in the pop up hood of Old Oakland in Oakland, CA. Thanks to Kate Ellen of Crown Nine for inviting me to sell in your store! There is a great short documentary on the Crown Nine website that describes the great idea of the pop up hood in Old Oakland. I am excited to be a part of it.

These bottles are off white (straight from the kiln today), black, and buff clay.

thank you all for following the vitrifiedstudio:work blog.  i am excited to see how vitrifiedstudio can grow over this next year, and i am grateful for all of your support.

i am spending the day today in the studio, working on new ideas and  trying out my new white clay bodies. i am reflecting on how lucky i am to get to finally be back in ceramics, after years away from the studio where i was only able to dream of making pots on little scraps of post it notes.

i spent the last few days updating my etsy store, take a peek if you are interested. http://www.etsy.com/shop/vitrifiedstudio

i wish you all a happy and safe new year!
